U8-Theatre-A2-Blog-Life or Legacy of Shaw

A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing.

George Bernard Shaw

Irish dramatist & socialist (1856 - 1950)

"A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing." is a quote by George Bernard Shaw. I agree with this statement. If you never try anything then you may not make a mistake but you also never tried to do more. Therefore, it is more honorable to put forth effort even if it does not yield success then it is to do nothing or accomplish nothing because you never tried. This quote speaks of recognizing realism of the situation, but he also used his sense of humor to convey similar messages as well.

  1. Interesting choice, and I agree! Shaw uses his great sense of humor to make serious points in so much of his writing. Recognizing the inevitability and importance of mistakes is embracing the reality of life, but he also makes the point that mistakes help you learn and grow and are proof that you've done something new!
