Building to save energy:

The Monolithic Dome is the green home that I find most interesting. I like the design since I have always liked circles. Their structure keeps in heat and air which makes it very energy efficient. This one-piece structure is designed so well that it is resistant to wind and storm damage. It moves with the ground instead of collapsing during earthquakes and since it is made of concrete and steel then it resist damage from fire, insects and rot. These houses can be cheap to build which makes them very economical.  In fact, in Indonesia after a major earthquake about 70 of these homes were built at $1500 cost for each home. These dome buildings have been used for everything including churches, schools, and commercial buildings.

  1. I agree with Kailyn. Great job! I like the tone of this one, how you write from the first person perspective and inject your opinions and ideas into it. This is what we love to see in the blogs. You also chose to point out the really interesting facts about these structures.
